  4. Captain Smith and his crew could not stop the water from flooding through the ship.
(b) Effects of the sinking of Titanic.
Ans. The sinking of the Titanic made people think harder about the safety of passengers on the ship. Therefore, it was decided that all ships must have enough room in the lifeboat to carry passengers on board. Every hour of the day and night.

Ans
It was the night of 14th April. The sky was clear, the sea was calm and passengers on the Titanic were asleep. Captain Smith, there were Iceberg nearby. He asked a man to keep watch from the top of the ship. All of a sudden, he yelled iceberg. Captain tried hard to keep the Titanic away from Iceberg but to no avail. The Titanic scraped the mountain of ice. Iceberg made holes in Titanic. water started to pour into; the unsinkable ship was sinking. Captain Smith sent urgent messages on the ship's radio asking for help. A ship in California was only 20 miles away. It didn't receive the message because her raid was turned off. Another ship Carpathia heard the message but unfortunately, she was far away from the Titanic. At 2.30 a.m., on 15th April Titanic was vanished into the sea. About 1500 people drowned or died of cold. The Carpathia reached at 3.40 a.m. and managed to save 700 passengers on the lifeboats.
